These are a few guidance tips on how to insert your own pictures in your postings.
First though, you MUST have the picture(s) you want to use ALREADY ON THE INTERNET. This is because when you insert it in the posting, it is 'grabbed' from the internet rather than your computer. So before you start to write your post, make sure all your images are uploaded to an image store site.
If you have your own webspace, use that, (see your ISP help pages on how to upload) but if you don't have webspace and are not familiar with file transfering to the internet, a simple way to do it is to use a free file storage site, one of which is www.uploadit.org/
This will allow you to store up to 200K of imagespace free of charge and it is very simple to use. Just follow the instructions on the site.
A note here about images you create;- If you have some kind of image manipulation software like Photoshop, Paintshop Pro or Corelpaint etc then get the image loaded into this and check that the RESOLUTION is around 72 dpi. This is perfectly adequate for website displays and anything above that figure is wasted as well as increasing the file size. Remember you don't have a lot of free storage space.
Then the actual size of the picture needs to be 'just right'. Assuming you have set the resolution to 72 dpi, check the physical size of the image in the application you are using. Ideally a comfortable size is about 6" or 500 pixels wide. This should give a fair-sized picture without overlapping the screen. Of course there is nothing wrong with using a smaller size width but try to keep to 8"/600 pixels absolute max. The height will adjust itself accordingly.
So assuming you have a max size picture of approx 8" x 6" (600 x 500 pixels) at 72 dpi and saved as a JPG, the filesize should be about 100K which is about the max you should accept. Anything above this and it will take up too much of your valuable free webspace as well as holding up the displaying of it due to the time it takes to appear. Smaller than this is also to be recommended but don't put tiny postage stamp images on unless you have a lot of images to add.
Of course if you have your own unlimited webspace then you can have larger photos, but generally anything larger thah 10" wide would be too big to comfortably view in the Forum, so never upload anything wider than 10" at 72 dpi.
OK, now you have at least one image finished and (hopefully) loaded up into your free webspace. Just check on your webspace site to get the FULL complete address of your image.
If you are using UPLOADIT you should see something like;
(obviously you will replace the <YOURNAME> and <YOURPICTUREFILENAME> appropriately).
Now open BAZZERSNAPS forum and click on a reply button or start a new thread and get the blank posting window up. Type your message then when get to the point where you wish to insert your picture, click on the 'insert image' icon (fourth from left just above the 'smilies') and you will see;-
[ img]URL
inserted into your posting.
Move the cursor over the 'URL' bit and OVERWRITE this with your picture URL address as shown above.
To check you have it all correctly inserted and spelt, click on 'PREVIEW' button and you should see your picture displayed.
If not, check you have entered the details correctly and keep changing it until it appears (just keep clicking on 'PREVIEW' every time you change things).
When you are happy with it loading in OK, carry on completing your post and finally click on POST to send the new message to the site.
If after all this you still have trouble or just don't want to go through all this, send me your image and I will upload it for you and will send you the address which you can fit into the [ img]URL line.
Hope to see LOTS of your pictures in the forum soon!
Good luck.
