Hello Members Last night I was invited to attend the semi-final of Stoke's Top Talent 2010. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the performance which was staged at the Regent Theatre in Hanley. The Regent Theatre has been successful in securing funding towards towards a new, improved stage set and it was wonderful to listen to the improved sound system, as well as the splendid lighting effects. There were three judges at Stoke's Top Talent and they made a remarkable entry onto the stage. The judges were housed in a cage that was suspended in the air. The judges were slowly descending onto the stage and the effects were superb . . . A dramatic entrance for a dramatic show. Regards Margaret

Thanks for these Margaret.
The photos look quite stunning. With the light effects etc.
But being a non-lover of these type of shows, mainly because of the absurd arrogance and self-importance placed on of the 'judges' I just wish they had kept them locked in that cage throughout the show (and suspended in the air too!) :-)
My sympathy always goes to the acts who have to stand there ridiculed and embarrassed in front of the whole theatre while these so-called 'experts' and 'non-entities' rattle off their 'advice' and 'opinions' from their positions of blatant freedom to insult.
Sorry Margaret but it's a real angry Baz today as this is one of my pet hates.
But I am sure the show was enjoyable and entertaining for non-grumpy types like me! :-)

Hello Barry Thank you for your kind comments regarding the photographs. I must admit that I am still experimenting with my camera at the moment. Ah, ha, yes I take on board your comments regarding the X Factor judges and I suspect that the X Factor has become quite commercialised in the last series. Stoke's Top Talent is produced in association with the Regent Theatre and The Sentinel. The three judges are always polite and they do not criticise the acts in the same way that is allowed upon the X Factor. Indeed, the judges are quite respectful to the acts and offer them sound, progressive advice. The three judges of Stoke's Top Talent are: Kevin Wood, whom is a respected producer within the world of entertainment. Kevin Wood actually finances the production team that produces Stoke's Top Talent from his own 'pocket'. Eric Potts, the second judge is a professional scriptwriter and pantomine guru and he is financed by Kevin Wood. I Martin Tideswell, is the third judge whom is employed by The Sentinel. The Sentinel donate the first prize which equates to £1,000. It appears that there are many spin-offs of the X Factor that take place in numerous cities around the country. However, Stoke's Top Talent is financed mainly be Kevin Wood. The winner of this years Stoke's Top Talent was a Sam Bloor. The young chap from Mow Cop [whom is an excellent singer] shall be whisked to London's to take part in a West End Show. I hope the above answers your Sunday gripe? Kind regards Margaret
