I have visited Crich Tramway Museum virtually every year since the 1960's and always notice the 'noticeable' tower which overlooks the museum site and quarry nearby. Yesterday I decided to not go in the Tramway museum but to take a few shots from outside the boundary and have a walk over to the tower to see what it is like close up. To my surprise it is very pleasant location. It is a memorial tower for the Sherwood Forrester Regiment but it has a long history which you can read about here; www.crich-memorial.org.uk/history.htmlYou are able to climb the tower up a narrow and steep winding staircase and the views from the top are quite breathtaking. Unfortunately the sun was a little too bright for comfort and glare so I could only try and shade the shots that pointed into the sun. Side view of the Red Lion reconstructed from it's original site in Stoke. The Red Lion itself; Crich Church;- The Memorial Tower;- Views from the top of the tower overlooking the Tramway Museum.
